Fundamentals of Advanced Mushroom Growing: Hands-on Experience

Brandon Owen, owner of I See Fungi and alumnus of Mushroom Mountain, will teach this immersive class on indoor mushroom cultivation on January 19, 2025. This course is open to aspiring mushroom lovers of all levels …. beginning to advanced!


We have just completed set up of our full-scale …. “spore to fruit” mushroom nano-farm here at the Mushroom Spot. We have a lab set up with the help of Tradd Cotter, a substrate mixing and sanitation area, a colonization room, and a fruiting room. We are geared up for some medium-scale mushroom production in addition to extensive experimentation with all species of fungus. Brandon will walk you step-by-step through the mushroom cultivation process …. which is fun and fascinating!


Brandon says: This class will take you step by step through the process of growing mushrooms from the basics to advanced methods with hands on experience and techniques. Make petri dishes, liquid cultures, tissue samples, germination, grains, fruiting conditions …. are among many of the topics to be discussed and demonstrated.


This course will start at 9AM and end at 4PM. There will be a short break around lunchtime. There will be a food truck in the Lake Forest Shopping Center serving tacos and more (some with mushrooms!).
The cost for the class is $200.
